This Saturday is a night which I would most probably think back years later and wonder "How could this happen?" Lol. This Saturday is the my hall's Dinner and Dance night and I am one of the contestant in the pageant contest.(which I am still figuring how I got in at the first place)

Every block in my hall sent their representatives and I am representing my block which is F block. F block rocks man!!! Since the past few months we have been practising our dance every week. I am so not good in dancing, I just don't have the moves. I am hoping at least I don't trip and forget my moves, then mission accomplish.

Honestly, being the contestant for pageant is totally unexpected. First of all, I don't have the height and the body. Besides, there are other much good looking guys in my block. Anyways, I am in. Haiz... I am guessing the guy "T" who commented in my chatbox saying that I think as if I am so zai (geng) besides starting his comment with vulgarity, would probably read this and criticize again. However, I just want to share that I lead my life with a principle, which is to be thankful for every single small things in my life, including friends. Instead of focusing on the failures in my life, I prefer to focus on the good things that happen which I believe will encourage me to excel in my life as well as using my experience to encourage friends who needs encouragement.

Coming here to Singapore is already a miracle. My father who strongly wanted me to continue my education in Malaysia has finally agreed to support me to study here in NUS. Thus, it is my vow to strive and excel in various ways to make my dad's investment worthwhile. I was reluctant to leave my family because of our close bondage and I will miss them a lot. But I guess there are things in life which I want to pursue which led me being here in the end.

Back to DnD, I am thankful to those who supported me. Although I know there are only a few of you guys, but I am very thankful and I appreciate you guys. :-)

A TURNOVER

Remember last week I was very down because of not being recognized by the hall. I was sad but I definitely did not expect what actually happened next.

I was so down that I turned to a senior in my hall whom I trust a lot. First of all, it was him who accompanied me to church during my early days in Singapore. He was in choir, a capella and also part of the hallplay committee together with me. So we know each other quite well. I was just hoping for some advice to get over this situation but instead out of my expectations, he actually helped to put my name in the Outstanding Freshman Award nominees. I was shocked and happy as well. I felt really greatful, not so much because of finally being the nominee for the award but much more than that, which is the feeling of being helped by a friend does feel great. I realized I wasn't alone after all.

So just being a nominee is enough for me, because at least now I know the hall recognizes my effort and also getting to know a friend who cares.

I was feeling very contented but I found out today that I was one of the finalist for the award.
I was so excited. An email was sent to me to attend the Dinner and Dance event which the prize giving will be held. By the way, I was not the only finalist but together with my other great friends, Ken Juin, Jun Keat and Nicholas. All 3 of them worked with me before. Nicholas, Ken Juin and I worked together to make Malaysian Night a success. Nicholas and I were the Assisstant Manager for Hallplay, Jun Keat was the Marketing Head for Hallplay as well. Ken Juin and I were in choir and a capella together. Jun Keat and I are also the Male Pageant finalist, with Nicholas as our dance choreographer and the Vice-president of Dinner and Dance.For further info, the pageant contest will commence on the same day as the award giving event. Jun Keat, Ken Juin and I are also in the programme department for next year's Hall Orientation committee.

I was so excited to learn that the 3 of them are together with me in the finalist for the Male Outstanding Freshman Award. It was so fun working together with them. And now, we are in this award together. I don't care who wins the award but I feel that this experience is so unpredictable and too coincidental. 3 of them were the ones working along with me most of the time in hall. I really felt happy for them.

Looks like good things had happened more than what I can imagine. I really thank my Father in Heaven for the things he has done in my life.

Hey,

I checked my previous videos on my com. And I realized this song which I randomly sung one year ago while working for Maxis (a telecommunications company in Malaysia) as the promoter. It was after work that time. Song Huan, my best friend was shooting me in this video.

An interesting fact is that afternoon I participated in an eating competition. It was held by Nando's. The winner is the one who finished the Super Spicy half of a chicken fastest. I ate very fast, without chewing at all, just swallow and I got SECOND PLACE! So happy, but guess what prize I got? 2 bottles of extra spicy peri peri sauce, which is more pungent than chilli sauce or chilli padi. Haiz...

Am I really that invinsible in hall? Or am I doing not enough?

I hereby would like to share my grieve. In the hall which I stay, there is an annual recognition of the residents who contribute a lot to hall. I really tried my best to contribute to hall but I was not any of the nominee for best freshman award whatever award?

I do not understand why?

Last year I have sacrificed so much for hall, joining so many CCAs until I have very little time to study.
I was in Choir, Accapella, Malaysian Night Programmes Head, won IBG badminton for F block, Vice-cap of Badminton, Hallplay Assistant Stage Manager, Block Comm Level IC, Chinese Drama Cast,

WHY!!!!!!!!!!! I am really down! I am feeling faintness and sad..so sad..my hands are shaking, I dunno is it bcoz of ppl dislike me or watever, but i am feeling very down and sad coz wat i did for hall is not recognised
all the nights spent planning and time spent doing stuffs for hall!!!Why WHy WHy!

Hit The Road Jack

Hey guys,

I was super busy lately with a lot of Co-Curricular Activities.

Today I am going to show you guys a production I was involved on mid 2008.

I was approached by a friend I know when I was involved in a dance performance way back during November 2006. During that period I was also in Project Superstar 2 in Malaysia and successfully made it to the top 50 (that is another story though).

So my friend called me up for this production of a Music Video for a local movie production and the title of the song is Hit The Road Jack. But I was not alone in this journey. I have my 2 close friends Jacob and Song Huan who joined with me. We were paid RM100 for one night so that was one of the reason that attracted me. This Music Video includes 10 guys and a girl. The story line is that this girl has 10 boy friends and one day all of them found out and decided to dump her together. We were told that after recording, we will be provided with Tuxedo to film the Music video.

The location is at Hits Recording Studio which many famous artists did their recordings there, Jacky Cheung was there recording his album Black and White. So it was quite exciting being in that place. I was even excited when I see my other friends who are in the music industry there as well, unexpected. Some of them are real famous local singers (I do not think revealing their names here is wise). Anyway, I met some of them in my earlier concert performance with a band called Live Station which I was one of the lead singer back in year 2007.

The 10 of us guys were there and were wondering who the lead female singer would be. To my amazed there was Paris Ais Philips walking in the door. I was in total shock. She was in the top 10 of Who Wants to Be a Model TV programme in Malaysia. WOW!!! By the way, she looks beautiful up close as well as in TV.

Unfortunately, I left the production due to my studies. I came to Singapore just one month after that and could not continue with the recordings. Anyway, great experience and I got RM100 for singing one night. That feels great.

sQuba - Lotus Elise

Do you remember watching James Bond in one of his movies entitled The Spy Who Loved Me?

I am not sure but according to what I read, the car he used in that movie can actually run in water. It might seem like impossible but lately Lotus did it. Swiss custom car designer Frank M. Rinderknetch turn a Lotus Elise which looks like this one below ( a typical Lotus Elise)

I got to know about this car while reading the Discovery Channel Magazine.

What the magazine says about this car?

" the Lotus Elise makeover does come equipped with goggles and oxygen masks. But you'll definitely get soaked if you take the plunge. Rinderknecht, CEO of Rinspeed Inc, said he designed the sQuba without a top so the car wouldn't be overly buoyant and, oh yeah, also so occupants could get out quickly in an emergency. The interior , of course, is water resistant.

The US$1.5 million prototype looks sleek, but top land speed is only 113 kph and once the two-seater hits water it slows down considerably. On top of the waves, it goes up to 5 kph and underwater only 3 kph, to a depth of 10 metres. It has three electric motors - one for the propellers - plus two jet drives in the front.

Rinderknecht does not see a big market for the car. It's a toy, he says, for rich people.

Malaysian Night '08 - Identity

Malaysian Night is an event which King Edward VII Hall (the hall which I am staying) held it annually. It aims to gather Malaysians here in the hall to accomplish something together besides preparing us for the upcoming co-curricular activities which we are to take part in our hall.

In this event, I volunteered to be the Programme Coordinator. My job scale is to plan the programs for Malaysian Night and make sure all the programs would be presentable for the night of the event.

King Edward VII Hallplay 08/09 Steering Committee

Sorry for not blogging for the past few days. I was busy with a play by the hall (hostel) which I am currently staying which is King Edward VII Hall.

I signed up to be a part of this major event in King Edward VII Hall. To try something different, instead of signing up as cast (because I have experience in doing dramas), I decided to sign up for stage crew. To my surprise, I was appointed as the Assistant Stage Manager. My role as an Assistant Stage Manager is to call cues, assign stage crews to their respective props and the props movement, besides having meetings with the main committees of this play.

Last week was an intensive practice for Hallplay. We had dry runs and trainings everyday. It was fun but I can feel the pressure and stress emerging in me as well. Anyway, everything works fine.

The title of this year's Hallplay is Pygmalion. The play is about a poor flower girl, Eliza Doolittle, who sells flowers by the street, speaks rudely and do not know how to carry herself appropriately. But then one day a professor by the name of Higgins spotted her and made a bet with an Englishman name Pickering that he (Higgins) is able to transform Eliza to a Duchess in 6 months.

This play is interesting and funny. The stage props are well done and looks great. I am going to upload the pictures next time. Anyway, below is the picture of the stage crew.
